Gerald Alvin Thomas (8/8/37 – 10/14/25)

A historian, a woodworker, and a teacher.

“He was a Good Man”

He was a good man, yet afraid of people’s love – both giving and receiving.

He loved to read because it was safe.

When he died, he asked the nurse to call him ‘Pops’.

He was a good man yet feared connection with people.

Michelle - Your dad deeply loved you, yet he was afraid to show it.

Chad - Soulmate to you. Fearing love from you while also afraid to show his love to you.

Karsten – connected to Jerry yet both fearing rejection of each other.

Suzy – best friend.

But he was a good man, I loved him and we both felt blessed having each other

Goodbye Jerry, see you again soon.

Thanks to:

Jerry’s Ohio and Swedish families. Jerry is survived by: Norma (his first wife and mother of Michelle and Chad Thomas), Margareta (wife), and Karsten Hazlett (stepson) and Sarah Rosa (Karsten’s partner).

We are so thankful for the support and love of many friends and neighbors including: Daybreak, Tina for guiding Margareta during this sad time; Marcella and Carlos who were so helpful and who were constant friends over the many years; Frederick Hospital and staff, who helped Jerry during his death. His wife, Margareta, is especially thankful for the hospital’s thoughtfulness; Brandenburg & Stein Funeral Parlor, who cared for him lovingly after his death.

We are thankful for his God who holds him in his arms.

Jerry was buried naturally in a grove of walnut trees (his favorite woodworking material) at Morris Orchard in Frederick.
