Ike Morris, Jr.

b. August 12, 1951

Hanover

Harry I. “Ike” Morris, Jr., a wonderful, funny, big, strong man with a heart just as large as his laugh, passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2025, surrounded by family in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He was 73.

Born on August 12, 1951, in Dallastown, PA, Ike was the son of the late Harry I. Morris and Doris Blymire Morris. He grew up with a work ethic rooted in family, community, and grit, and spent his life lifting others—both literally and figuratively.

Ike was truly one of a kind. His humor was sharp, his hugs were legendary, and his presence was unforgettable. Whether you knew him for a lifetime or met him just once, you likely walked away with a story, a laugh, and a lasting impression. He was big in every way that mattered—his strength, his voice, his heart, and the space he held for those he loved.

Ike spent his life moving the earth—literally. He began his career in excavation alongside his father at Stewart and March, Inc., later working with Leon Wintermyer Inc. His talent and leadership eventually led him to a superintendent position at Kinsley Construction in York, PA. Never one to sit still or back down from a challenge, Ike went on to build something of his own—Hampton Construction Ltd. in Mechanicsburg, PA—which he ran with pride until his retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife, Chandra Roller Morris. He is survived by four children: Brandon Morris of Houston, TX; Colby Morris of Destin, FL; and daughters Nichole Rosenberg and Katina Wagner, both of York, PA.

He was the cherished brother to surviving siblings, Madeline Morris Warner of York, PA, and Raymond Morris of Weirsdale, FL. And proceeded in death by his sisters Katherine Morris, Lourena Morris Oberdick, Barbara Adams, and Roberta Morris, all of whom he missed dearly.

Though he is no longer with us in body, Ike’s spirit lives on in every story retold around the dinner table, every belly laugh that echoes through a family gathering, and every bit of earth moved by the hands of those he taught and inspired. He built more than roads and foundations—he built a life full of love, laughter, and legacy.

A celebration of Ike’s life will be held at Codorus State Park, Pavilion #3, on August 28, 2025 at 4:00pm which happens to be the first place he worked along side his father. In his memory, the family invites you to share a story, crack a joke, lend a hand, or simply live a little bigger—just like Ike did.

He was truly unforgettable. And he will be missed beyond measure.

Arrangements are with Brandenburg & Stein Funeral Parlor, 3045 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, PA. To sign the online guestbook and leave condolences go to www.gettysburgfunerals.com.
