Jeannette Doris Tanguay

Jeannette Doris (Lapierre) Tanguay, aged 93, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. Jeannette was a longtime resident of the Greenwood (Bungay) Lake area in North Attleboro, before moving to Pennsylvania in 2021.

Jeannette was born on February 17, 1932, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Edward Lapierre and Lea (Fortier) Lapierre. She was one of eight children. She was married to Gerald L. Tanguay from 1954 to 1976 and was the longtime companion of Gary W. Carlson, with who she shared 30 years.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Lorraine M. Demers and her husband, Donald J. Demers of Gettysburg, PA; two grandchildren, Christopher Demers and his wife Stephanie of Cooksville, MD and Jeffery Demers and his longtime companion, Kerri Long, of West Friendship, MD. She was the great-grandmother to Landon, Jordan and Evan.

Jeannette was predeceased by her siblings, Lea E. Meunier, Alice R. Carlson, Irene R. Donahue, Estelle C. L'Etoile, Edward G. Lapierre Jr., Leo N. Lapierre, and Albert G. Lapierre.

Jeannette worked for the Swank Company in Attleboro for many years and later as a supervisor in the silk-screening and packing department at Doran and Johnson (later Doranco) in North Attleboro.

Jeannette enjoyed a very active life well into her senior years. She loved life on Bungay Lake and was thrilled to teach numerous children the art of catching sunfish using a string, a straight pin and some bread. She was very creative, often winning the Bungay Lake boat decorating contest. Jeannette loved a challenge, particularly very difficult jigsaw puzzles, sometimes completing them on the non-picture side. She enjoyed crocheting and over the years made numerous decorative items for family and friends. An intrepid traveler, she visited numerous countries on her many trips abroad and camped her way across the U.S. and Canada on a months-long trip with Gary. Earlier in life, she was a dedicated swimmer (she loved beating the boys in races at the YMCA) and diver and worked as a lifeguard. She was also an excellent bowler, winning numerous trophies. An avid cribbage player, she was always good for a game or two in the clubhouse at Stone-E-Lea Golf Course which her dad and brothers built. She was a kind, intelligent and lively woman who easily made friends and shared her zest for life with all.
