Karen Hollerich Kopp passed away May 4, 2026, at the age of 67.
She was the loving wife of William G. Kopp, of Gettysburg, PA.
Karen was a graduate of LaSalle Peru High School and earned a degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. After graduation she moved to Northern Virginia to work with the US House of Representatives and then enjoyed a lengthy career with the Central Intelligence Agency as a security programs manager. She was awarded the Career Intelligence Medal upon retirement in 2014 after more than 32 years of government service. Upon retirement she and her spouse moved to Gettysburg.
In addition to her spouse, Karen is survived by her mother, Lois Hollerich of LaSalle, IL; sisters Helen Hollerich of Shorewood, IL; Paula Swank (Clay) of Peru, IL; Gail Sunken (Alan) of Wenona, IL; Mary Hollerich of Peru, IL; brothers Thomas Hollerich (Niki) of O’Fallon, IL, and Michael Hollerich (Laura) of Kenilworth, IL and Dallas, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karen enjoyed her retirement years with travel to Europe and serving on the Homeowners Association Board. She loved to share memories with her family by creating cards with old family photographs. She is especially grateful for the years of friendship and concern of her many neighbors at the Links at Gettysburg.
A memorial service will be held at Brandenburg & Stein Funeral Parlor, 3045 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg with internment to follow in Two Taverns Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate) or to a charity of your choice.
