Norris Lloyd Minter, 92, a lifelong resident of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2026.
Born in Gettysburg on April 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Lloyd Glenn Minter and Patricia O’Rean (Hubbell) Minter.
He was a 1952 graduate of Gettysburg High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 during the Korean War era, earning the Good Conduct Medal.
A respected and familiar figure throughout Gettysburg, Mr. Minter was considered a pillar of the community. He retired after 30 years of service as a letter carrier with the Gettysburg Postal Service. Following his retirement, he became a well-known collector and dealer of African and East Indian art. His passion for art and culture led to an impressive collection, with pieces now housed in the Smithsonian Institution and other regional museums. He also shared his knowledge through lectures and exhibits at 22 area colleges.
He is survived by his four children; numerous grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia May Minter; his brother, Robert Glenn Minter; and his beloved dog, Snuggles.
In accordance with his wishes, funeral services will be private and cremation will take place.
